Bucky Irving burst onto the scene for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024 after being selected as a fourth-round pick, racking up over 1,500 total yards and scoring eight touchdowns as a rookie. But his sophomore campaign was slowed by numerous injuries ranging from his ankle to his shoulder, limiting him to just ten games played and just 3.4 yards per carry.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the former Oregon Ducks star had surgery on his shoulder this offseason and will likely miss mini-camp in a few weeks. He will be back at some point during training camp however, and should be ready for the start of the season.
The Buccaneers struggled mightily once Irving went down with his injuries early last season, as they jumped out to a 5-1 record before faltering and losing eight of their next 11 games. They narrowly missed the playoffs on a tie-breaker despite defeating the Carolina Panthers in the final game of the regular-season.
While hampered last season, Irving carried the ball 173 times for 588 yards and a touchdown while catching 30 passes for 277 yards and three scores. He was increasingly more involved in the passing game than his rookie season, as Tampa Bay dealt with a bevy of injuries at the wide receiver position.
The Buccaneers are significantly better with the former Ducks running back on the field, and it appears that he'll be ready for Week 1 after a shoulder procedure this offseason.
