Buccaneers to interview Giants’ Mike Kafka for their OC opening: report

Mike Kafka is set to receive his first external interview this offseason.

The Giants’ coach will meet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about their vacant offensive coordinator position this week, according to Greg Auman of Fox Sports.

Kafka, of course, had been Big Blue’s OC since the 2022 season.

After receiving head coach interviews he was promoted to assistant coach last offseason, then was bumped to New York's interim head man after Brian Daboll was fired midseason.

The team went 2-5 with him at the helm, winning their final two games of the season.

Kafka did receive an interview with the Giants for the full-time head coach opening, but it’s looking more and more like they'll end up going outside the organization.

It that is the case, it remains to be seen if the new coach would look to bring back Kafka and others or bring in a completely new staff of their own.

If the 38-year-old does leave there is some familiarity in Tampa, as he spent some time as their backup quarterback during his playing days.

Kafka hasn't met with any other teams about head coach openings this time around.
