The Boston Bruins have made another trade. This time, they shipped off long-time Providence Bruins mainstay Fabian Lysell for a 23-year-old forward with a name you'll have to see to believe.
Boston acquired forward Ivan Ivan from the Colorado Avalanche.
Colorado signed the Ostrava, Czechia native in March of 2024. He almost immediately made his NHL debut, skating in 49 games with the Avalanche.
He spent most of last season with Colorado's AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. During his 66 games with the Eagles last season, Ivan recorded 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points. He was electric during the Calder Cup Playoffs, nearly leading his Eagles in playoff points with 15 in 17 games.
The deal was a straight-up one-for-one.
It was time for a change of scenery for Lysell, who made his NHL debut with the Bruins in 2024 but has been down in Providence since.
Both players are 23 years old, but the Bruins new Czech has an inch on the Swedish former first-round pick Lysell.
Ivan is also a left-handed shot as opposed to the right-handed stick of the traded party.
