Bruins Pick 2nd Goalie In 2026 NHL Draft, Boston College Commit originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The first pick the Boston Bruins made in the 2026 NHL Draft was for 17-year-old goaltender Yuri Ivanov in the second round. Nearly 100 picks later, the Bruins used a second selection on a netminder in the sixth round.
With the 170th overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the Boston Bruins selected 19-year-old goaltender Roberto Henriquez out of the USHL.

Henriquez is actually a Bratislava, Slovakia native, but he played for the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2025-26.
During 37 games with the Gamblers, Henriquez posted an impressive 21-9-4 record with a .921 save percentage and two shutouts.
He was named to the All-USHL Second Team and has already committed to playing for the hometown Boston College Eagles in the 2026-27 season.
The Bruins have made a real habit of making sure they have at least one prospect at Boston College every season.
Fans and scouts alike love the short drive it takes to watch their young players develop.
It is odd to see the Bruins investing so much draft capital in a position they have locked up for the foreseeable future with the very expensive and capable Jeremy Swayman. But where Henriqeuez differes fromt he earlier selected Ivanov is in his proximity and age.
Perhaps Ivanov has more pure upside, but at 19 with professional experience and located in Chestnut Hill, Mass., Henriquez is a good goaltender who will be right down the road if Boston or Providence ever needs him.
When viewing the selection through that lens, perhaps using two draft picks on goaltenders makes a little more sense.
