The Boston Bruins have been linked to making a splash this offseason in free agency.

Although the free agent class isn’t as good as years past, there are still some notable names that could hit the open market on July 1. Two of the biggest names are defensemen Darren Raddysh from the Tampa Bay Lightning and Rasmus Andersson from the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Bruins have been linked to both, and insider Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic predicts the team will sign Raddysh to a seven-year, $54.25 million deal.

“Signing defenseman Darren Raddysh would be a big risk on a player whose previous career high was seven goals before scoring 22 for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2025-26,” Shinzawa wrote.

“It would also address a significant shortcoming for the Bruins: a right-shot defenseman who can get pucks on net and drive offense from the blue line. For Raddysh, who has never earned more than $1 million annually, it would be a life-changing score. He’d slot in nicely behind Charlie McAvoy on the second pair.”

It would be a risk as Raddysh had a breakout year this season, but if he can continue that success, it would be a big addition to the Bruins’ blue line.

Boston needs more help on the right side, and Raddysh would add some more offense to the backends and can run the second power play unit, which was an issue at times for the Bruins.

Not only would Boston help itself by signing Raddysh, but the Bruins would also hinder a division rival, as he was a key part of Tampa Bay’s success this season.
