The NFL offseason is about to heat up, with legal tampering starting Monday and the official start of the new league year and free agency this coming Wednesday. The Cleveland Browns have plenty of players with expiring contracts and will have some decisions to make, but they have already made one regarding former Ohio State player Ronnie Hickman.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the Browns are planning to place a second-round restricted tender on the restricted free agent Hickman, who was signed after going undrafted in 2023. The tender is essentially a 1-year $5.8 million contract for Hickman.
Other teams can sign Hickman to an offer sheet, and if the Browns decide not to match it, they would get a second-round pick from that team because of the tender. It's a big pay raise for Hickman, who earned it after recording 107 tackles with two interceptions and seven pass breakups for the Browns in 2025.
