Myles Garrett has been a staple of the Cleveland Browns franchise since he was drafted with the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Garrett’s relationship with the team has had its ups and downs. He requested a trade during the 2025 offseason before ultimately reaching an agreement with the front office on an extension.
Browns’ new head coach, Todd Monken, recently stated that he has yet to meet the star pass rushers. Even with the extension Garrett signed last season, there are still many questions about his future in Cleveland. The team is coming off a five-win season and has continued to struggle to find an offensive identity. Even though the defense has a lot of star power, it is clear that the team will not find success as a whole until it has consistent play at quarterback.
Knowing this, would it be worth it to trade Garrett for three first-round picks, plus a little more, in the near future if it would guarantee that the Browns get their quarterback of the future? There has been speculation that Cleveland and the Philadelphia Eagles could work out a trade after the Eagles get a first-round pick for WR AJ Brown.
Garrett is a future Hall of Famer and has been a leader on the Cleveland defense, but the Browns really need to think about what is best for their future in the coming seasons. If trading Garrett means getting a franchise quarterback, it would seem to be worth it.
