Browns make decision on HC Kevin Stefanski, GM Andrew Berry futures

The Cleveland Browns have been rumored to be moving on from HC Kevin Stefanski for some time, with rumors including potential trades, the coach himself wanting out, and other teams lining up to speak to him as soon as he becomes available. Two straight wins against AFC North opponents both moved the Browns 2026 NFL draft order position down and led many to wonder if Stefanski had saved his job.

On what is known as “Black Monday,” the answer was clear from Berea as multiple reports, all at the same time, said that Stefanski was being let go after six years in Cleveland as the head coach:

Following Week 18’s win, Stefanski seemed to know it was his last game but focused on his priorities with his team, one last time.

Cleveland joins the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons with head coaching openings. The number of top candidates for jobs this year does not seem on par with the Ben Johnson, Liam Coen carousel last offseason.

After over a decade working for the Minnesota Vikings, Stefanski was hired in 2020 as a first-time head coach at the age of 38. He finishes his six seasons with the team with a record of 45-56.
