A few days ago, the Cleveland Browns were informed by their defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz, that he was resigning and would no longer be the DC. That left Todd Monken in need of a new guy to run his defense. He said during his opening press conference last week that no matter who the coordinator was, he wanted to keep the defensive scheme already in place.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero is reporting that the team has already interviewed two internal candidates to replace Jim Schwartz. Safeties coach Ephraim Banda and linebackers coach Jason Tarver were interviewed for a promotion, and I think they would both be good candidates to replace Schwartz.

Banda had a couple of defensive coordinator interviews this season and has experience at the collegiate level as a defensive coordinator with Utah State and Miami (FL). Jason Tarver, who has been with the Browns since 2020, was the defensive coordinator for Vanderbilt in 2018 and 2019 as well as the Oakland Raiders from 2012 to 2014.
