The Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with cornerback Denzel Ward on a two-year, $62.2 million contract extension with $52.3 million fully guaranteed, per Adam Schefter. The deal makes Ward the highest paid defensive back in league history on a per year basis.

The deal comes in the midst of negotiations between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joey Porter Jr. on a contract extension of his own. The Penn State product is entering the final year of his rookie contract and he, along with fellow cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Devon Witherspoon are seeking contract extensions. The price almost certainly just went up for all three following Ward’s deal.

The Steelers placed Porter on the PUP list on Tuesday with a back injury ahead of their first training camp practice, which will take place Wednesday morning.
