The Cleveland Browns really do not want to run into Myles Garrett much, if at all, following the trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Rams. So much so that the trade includes a unique protection for the Browns against the possibility of Garrett being dealt to any AFC North team. If this were to happen, it would alter the draft pick compensation the Browns received from the Rams, ultimately netting them another first-round selection.
This interesting tidbit was first reported by Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, as Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team highlighted. The clause covers the 2029 third-round selection the Browns received, meaning that if the Rams dealt Garrett to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, or Cincinnati Bengals, that pick would become a first-round selection.
While it's highly unlikely the Rams part with Garrett at any point before that time, it's still an interesting safety precaution by the Browns. As things stand, the deal should benefit both sides, and many have even argued that the Browns "won" the Garrett trade.

While Garrett's stellar tenure with the Browns is officially over, his next chapter begins following a stretch that included being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice, a First-Team All-Pro five times and making seven Pro Bowls.
Losing Garrett is unquestionably a blow to the Browns in the immediate future; however, the draft compensation is impactful, and the addition of Verse is an excellent one. Verse, the No. 19 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons.

Interesting wrinkle: The 2029 3rd-round pick the #Browns received from the #Rams in the Myles Garrett trade would become a 1st-round pick if Los Angeles trades Garrett to another AFC North team (Steelers, Ravens, Bengals), per @MaryKayCabot. pic.twitter.com/rDRhAnGbgU
