but didn’t have a signature on the paperwork and thus the deadline passed.

So, McCarron and Cody Kessler are probably available this offseason, and both are significantly better than Stanton.

The fact that the two winless teams in the NFL, the 49ers and the Browns, tried to trade for their QBOF right now, further suggests how iffy this year's QB class is at the top of the draft.

Agree. There is nobody emerging as a clear QBOF. Jackson is probably the best candidate and he has some issues. Darnold, Rosen, and Allen all seem to have taken steps backwards as the season has progressed.

Yep

I said it last year despite the quantity, the quality of Watson & Mahomes was better.

I still think McCarron & be a darn good QB in this league & he's better than Dalton

Where does that leave us? Drafting another offensive or defensive lineman who will be inactive for the first year?

...or it just reinforces their front office incompetence.

Yup.

It’s the same BS every year where the next QB class is better than the current class, but once the next QB class comes around, it’s “not really a good QB class”. Literally the same song & dance every year.

The browns obviously don't know what a "good QB" looks like. They passed up their fair share over the last few years, and drafted some real clunkers.

This, this, a million times this. So many posters here were shouting "wait until next year, the QBs will be so much better!" And it's already beginning... the underwhelming seasons, the scouts nitpicking whether a guy has small hands, or a slight hitch in his throw, or he does his hair wrong.

The worst thing is, we already have a better record than 5 teams and the same record as 8 other teams. We'll probably win 2-3 more games, too. It's not out of the question that we pick outside of the top 10, and miss out on the top QBs anyways. We're stuck in a laughably bad place at QB and it's very demoralizing as a fan.

Maybe, but, now we are in a dl position to pick one of hem and move forward with our franchise. If we don’t draft, what are our options? Cousins would be great, but are we the spot for him? It would lead to a Fitz contract renewal, but if we don’t get him, what are your ideas?

The Browns are a terrible organization. If it's true that they messed it up simply by not sending in the paperwork the entire front office should be canned.

Embarrassing.

This is why I feel for Browns fans. We long time Cardinal fans know how inept our franchise was for decades but they weren't this level of inept. They supported a franchise for decades who, although couldn't bring them a Super Bowl title, still was competitive and gave them some thrills but who left town on them only to be replaced by a laughing stock. They would have been better off without a team.

Not him, but I don't think anything we do really leads to a Fitz contract renewal. We couldn't afford Cousins and Fitz at the crazy amount he's been pulling in over the past couple of years.

If BA stays, Cousins could be an option, but I think something like McCarron (if available) or Alex Smith could be an option.

Draft Lamar or Baker. Build the OL through Free Agency. Build the defense through the draft(& also draft a WR). Hopefully, this is under a new HC.

Cousins will break the heart of whoever doles out the $$$$ to him. He's a tease of the highest order.
