After playing through a torn labrum last season, Denver Broncos safety and special teamer JL Skinner underwent surgery in February. Five months later, Skinner wrote on his Instagram story that he is 100% cleared and "ready to spin" ahead of the start of training camp later this month.
Skinner (6-4, 220 pounds) was originally picked by the Broncos in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of Boise State. The 25-year-old safety played all 17 games in 2025, earning 68% of the special teams snaps and 3% of the defensive snaps. Skinner totaled 12 tackles and one forced fumble last fall despite dealing with a torn labrum.
Skinner will face more competition at safety this summer after the team signed veteran Tycen Anderson during free agency and later added Miles Scott during the NFL draft. Skinner, Anderson and Scott will be among the safeties competing for backup roles behind Brandon Jones, Talanoa Hufanga and Devon Key at training camp.
Broncos players are set to report for camp on July 28 ahead of their first practice on July 31.
