OTC has Cousins ranked at 22nd in the NFL behind Mendoza and Cam Ward @11.3 mil. Brissett at 15 would be 20th ahead of those 2 and between Rodgers an Cousins as vet starters unless I am missing someone.
Here are the biggest and presumably toughest games for Texas and Oregon this season, so you can note it in the calendar:
September 26th - USC - Oregon
October 24th – Illinois – Oregon
November 7th – Ohio State – Oregon
November 14th – Oregon – Michigan
September 13th – Texas – Ohio State

Let's not bury the lede (thanks K9) that Arch will need to be a lot better than he was last year to justify being a #1 draft pick.

JB will get 95% of the practice reps after camp, looks like the starting QB. He showed up ready to go. No problem saying that as he proved he's the QB that the team thinks is by far the best on the roster. Hopefully the offense will be fun to watch.
Didn't Cousins sign some crazy 5 year contract that in the long run is essentially a 1 year $20M fully guaranteed contract because there is no way the Raiders pick up the 2 year $80M option after this season.

yeah if I recall the Raiders and Falcons used some loophole to get the deal done where the Falcons are essentially paying half of Cousins salary and Cousins is essentially guaranteed $20M in the long run this season. So your initial statement about Brissett being the lowest paid starter that isn't a rookie would be technically correct.
yeah if you look at the OTC history for Cousins you see a mysterious $10M "Cash Paid" charge for 2026 on the Falcons side. So not only are they paying $22.5M in dead money they are also paying $10M of his 2026 salary technically.

My feeling was to just trade him or, if that was not possible, cut him. BUT, now that the decision has been made, he is being paid pretty much where he ranks as a starting QB. My guess is the coaches got in MB's ear and told him the Stache and the Rook were not who they wanted to go to war with. JB is pick of the litter.

True. Arm talent is so huge and Stafford, JB have lots of it. Hopefully JB and this offense will be fun to watch. JB has a whole camp, and practice at the HQ before the season, and has good size, arm. Those are real pluses to build on from a decent 2025-26 season.
