Bridgewater VFW to host Haddad golf tournament

Bridgewater Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2125 will host its second annual Captain Melvin "Doc" Haddad Classic Golf Tournament at Olde Scotland Links in Bridgewater, according to a community announcement.

The event, scheduled for Aug. 31 at 695 Pine St., honors the legacy of Captain Melvin "Doc" Haddad while supporting veterans and VFW programs, according to the announcement.

Organizers said the tournament will follow an 18-hole, four-person scramble format, with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m. and a 9 a.m. shotgun start. A buffet lunch is planned for 2 p.m.

Participants can register for $150 individually or $600 per team, which includes a tournament T-shirt, swag bag, coffee and donuts, one drink ticket and buffet lunch, according to the announcement. Complimentary Bloody Marys or screwdrivers will also be available during the hour before tee-off.

"We are proud to host this event as a way to honor Captain Haddad’s legacy while supporting the veterans we serve," said John Sauvageau, commander of VFW Post 2125. "It is a great opportunity for the community to come together for a fun and meaningful day."

Sponsorship opportunities available​


Organizers said local businesses and organizations can participate through sponsorships ranging from title sponsorship to hole sponsorships. Sponsors will receive recognition through signage, social media, event promotions and tournament apparel, according to the announcement.
