The Eagles have an opening at the offensive coordinator position, and hours after Buffalo fired Sean McDermott, Philadelphia's brass sat down with the man who was the top target. On Tuesday, Brian Daboll became the third offensive coach interviewed after Kevin Patullo was removed as the Eagles' offensive coordinator last Tuesday.

Patullo could still remain on staff, but his time as the play caller has ended, while the Eagles will work to select the best available play caller that can take Jalen Hurts and a stale offense to the next level.

The Eagles have already interviewed Mike Kafka and Zac Robinson, but Dianna Russini reports that Daboll has bigger aspirations and an even younger quarterback option as a fallback plan. Unless something drastically changes, Brian Daboll won't be in Philadelphia.

The Eagles are conducting their offensive coordinator search with the understanding that Brian Daboll wants the Bills’ head coaching job. If he doesn’t land it, Daboll is expected to wind up in Tennessee as the offensive coordinator for Cam Ward and the Titans, per sources.

Daboll has coached Jalen Hurts before (at Alabama), but he's best known for landing the Giants' head coaching job in 2022 after four seasons in Buffalo as the Bills' offensive coordinator. Daboll has been credited with helping develop MVP quarterback Josh Allen, who struggled with accuracy when drafted out of Wyoming in 2018. In his third season as coordinator, in 2020, Daboll helped the Bills average 31.3 points per game, advance to the AFC Championship Game, and earn assistant coach of the year honors.

Now with Sean McDermott out, Daboll could be the favorite to replace his former boss, while getting another shot to coach Allen, and repair the quarterback's reputation after an AFC Divisional round meltdown that included four interceptions.

If he doesn't land the Bills head coach job, he'll head down south to Nashville, Tennessee, and join the Titans under Robert Saleh, where he'd have complete autonomy over an offense that has 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward at the quarterback position.

Daboll is a mentor to the Eagles' head coach, and McDaniel has been on Howie Roseman's radar for years now.
