The Brendan Sorsby story that has dominated the headlines over the last month took another shocking twist this week.

It was reported on Monday that Sorsby plans to enter his name into the 2026 NFL Supplemental Draft. Sorsby was cleared to play college football in 2026 despite initially being ruled ineligible for placing bets on games during his time at Cincinnati.

However, Sorsby is now leaving college behind in hopes of playing at the next level, and we just learned what the young signal-caller's value could be in the supplemental draft.

Many NFL general managers view Sorsby as a first-round talent

During an appearance on The Insiders, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport stated that general managers he spoke with view Sorsby as a first-round talent. However, most GMs believe his true value is in the second or third round.

One general manager even told Rapoport that Sorsby has more upside than Cade Klubnik and Drew Allar.

"Everyone [The general managers] viewed him [Sorsby] as a first-round talent," Rapoport said. "Most believe that he would end up going in the second or third round."

Sorsby is a dual-threat quarterback with a ton of promise. The 22-year-old threw for 27 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2025 with Cincinnati and added nine scores on the ground.

Though his accuracy could use some work, Sorsby has the arm talent and athleticism to eventually develop into a starting quarterback in the NFL. A team intrigued by his talent that could use extra depth in their quarterback room could take a chance on Sorsby.

As for the rumored value of Day 2 pick for Sorsby from Rapoport, it would be a steep price, but one a quarterback-needy team could be willing to pay.

The Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Arizona Cardinals are three franchises that immediately come to mind as possible landing spots for Sorsby, but there are likely more out there.

We'll just have to wait and see where Sorsby's next football home will be. The controversial quarterback officially filed the paperwork on Tuesday to enter the supplemental draft, so time will tell whether the NFL accepts his bid.

The supplemental draft is set to take place sometime in July. A weighted lottery will decide the order in which teams bid on players using picks in next year's April draft. You can read more about the NFL supplemental draft and the entire process here.
