Former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Alfred Collins has been drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. The Bastrop, TX native was taken 43rd in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Collins, who played in an amazing 64 games will at Texas, has never missed a game due to injury. The 6’6, 332 pound interior defensive lineman has ideal NFL size. That size makes him a bonafide run-stopper and gap filler in the passing game.
The DL had to wait his turn behind former Longhorns Byron Murphy and T’Vondre Sweat to be a starter on the 40 Acres. Collins shined when he finally got the chance, being named first-team All-SEC defensive lineman.
Collins doubled his career bests in solo tackles, assisted tackles, and pass deflections in 2024, while setting career highs in sacks, forced fumbles, and blocks. Collins was disruptive, destructive, and active throughout the entire season.
A great showing at the Senior Bowl was a key to Collins shooting up draft boards around the league.
