Experts react to the 49ers selecting Texas DT Alfred Collins in 2nd round

After drafting edge rusher Mykel Williams in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers continued to rebuild the defensive line in the second round with the selection of Texas Longhorns interior defensive lineman Alfred Collins.

Collins notched 141 combined tackles, 18 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 12 pass deflections and an interception in 64 career games with the Longhorns.

After racking up 55 tackles and six tackles for loss in 2024, Collins was named a second-team All-American and a first-team All-SEC defensive tackle.

-can line up anywhere on DL
-a handful!
-can absorb and split double teams
-active hands at LOS
-does a good job disengaging from blocks
