After saying they were happy with their edge rush rotation, Jason Licht and the Bucs add a second one on the third day of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

With the 157th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Elijah Roberts out of SMU. The former Mustang played a critical part in them making a run to the ACC and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Before he arrived at SMU, Roberts played three years for the Miami Hurricanes. In total, over his four years in college, he got to the quarterback often, racking up 17.5 sacks alone over the last two seasons.

He is an bit undersized for the position, which makes it interesting that he was announced as a general defensive lineman, not a linebacker or edge rusher.

Todd Bowles has shown he can utilize smaller defensive linemen successfully, look no further than Calijah Kancey. Creating pass rush success in the middle of the defensive line is just as important we have seen in recent years.

The Bucs have a plan; we will have to see what it is for him.
