The Tampa Bay Buccaneers knew they needed to get some playmakers on defense, and they did so with their first pick on the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Bucs drafted Benjamin Morrison out of Notre Dame to be the newest addition to their cornerback room. The Fighting Irish defender missed most of 2024 due to a hip injury. Otherwise, he had no business still being on the team's board. In the two full years he did play, Morrison forced nine interceptions and was incredible in both man and zone coverage.
For the Bucs, he will come into a situation where he won't be rushed into anything, even if his hip isn't ready. The team will be able to turn to him when he is, and then the rotation of Zyon McCollum, Jamel Dean, and Morrison will have the Bucs sitting in a much better spot than they were a few hours ago.
Two solid picks by Jason Licht and his staff to start their draft.
