In the early rounds, this year's installment of the French Open has thus far been rather subdued in terms of triumphant victories—or shocking upsets. We’ve come close: Unseeded American Jared Donaldson led the number-four seed, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, two sets to one before succumbing in five sets. (Donaldson would have been the first American man to knock out a single-digit seeded player at the French since 2000.)
