Dwyer is a popular personality on his social media channels, and the story has taken on a life of its own:

Did Brandon Dwyer get drafted?
No, Dwyer didn't get drafted in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night, and he won't get picked in the second round, either.
He just averaged 2.0 points per game for FGCU. He's a personable walk-on, and surely he works hard, but he isn't an NBA-level player, or close to it.
He's got a lot of fans, which is cool and makes for an amusing story.
But if you actually expect Dwyer to get drafted, you're going to be disappointed.
