Aug. 2—MITCHELL — Club names were drawn, and opening-round matchups doled out on Sunday afternoon, as the 32 qualified teams learned their bracket placement for the 2026 South Dakota Class B amateur tournament.
Back in Mitchell this season after a 2025 stop in Brandon, the 12-day tournament runs Aug. 5-16 at Cadwell Park.
The tournament's opening session will include the Parkston Mudcats playing Elk Point at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Kimball/White Lake against Valley Springs. Opening-round games continue through the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 9.
Thursday kicks off the slate of four-game days with Dell Rapids PBR and Colome at 11 a.m., with Lesterville against Garretson also as part of the afternoon session. The evening session includes Wynot (Neb.) versus Lake Norden at 5:30 p.m., and the nightcap features Alexandria playing Crofton (Neb.)
Groton and Lennox meet to start Friday's action at 11 a.m., trailed by Salem against Volga. Wessington Springs battles Clark at 5:30 p.m., and the Friday nightcap showcases Mount Vernon dueling Tabor.
Saturday's slate begins with an 11 a.m. clash of the Parkston Rays and Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks in a rematch of the 2025 title game. Perennial powers Winner/Colome and the Dell Rapids Mudcats meet in the first round for the second straight year at 1 p.m. Castlewood squares off with Canova at 5:30 p.m., followed by Burke and Redfield Dairy Queen to round out the day.
The first round wraps up Sunday with Larchwood (Iowa) against Flandreau at 11 a.m. and the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks versus Four Corners at 1 p.m.
The second round of play will take place nightly from Sunday, Aug. 9, to Wednesday, Aug. 12, with the quarterfinal round being played Thursday, Aug. 13, and Friday, Aug. 14. The Class B semifinals will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, with the championship game tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.
New to the bracket drawing procedure this year, district champions and district runner-ups, also known as first representatives, cannot play each other in the first round.
