Here is a round-up of area team boys soccer results from the UIL state semifinals:
Klein Cain 0, Allen 0 (Cain 5-4 PKs):Allen had won every playoff game this post-season by one goal before tonight’s loss. Allen played the second half and both extra-time periods with 10-men following a second yellow card. Cain keeper Donato Farina made a key save early in the shootout that eventually decided the shootout.
The Woodlands College Park 1, Plano West 0:Plano West’s year ends in the state semifinal for the second consecutive season. For the second consecutive season, the D-FW will be shut out from winning a boys Class 6A championship.
Frisco Wakeland 1, El Paso Burges 1 (Wakeland 4-2 PKs):Waleed Hadj-Hamou’s 5th-minute goal for Wakeland put the team on top early before Burges’ Gael Cruz equalized on a penalty kick. Wakeland eventually won in a penalty shootout to advance to face the winner of Austin LASA and San Antonio Pieper at 6:30 p.m. next Friday, April 10 in Georgetown
Prosper Walnut Grove 1, El Paso Americas 0:Another gritty match for Walnut Grove saw the reigning 5A Division I champions pull out a winner with just six minutes remaining in the match. Walnut Grove will face College Station in the championship next week on Friday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Georgetown.
Lake Dallas 2, Palestine 1: Lake Dallas scored two goals in the last five minutes of the match to overcome a 1-0 deficit and advance to their first-ever state final. Adrian Amaya scored the equalizer in the 78th-minute before Asher Siebenmann scored the winner less than a minute after. Lake Dallas will play Waco La Vega next Thursday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m. in Georgetown.
