Not every NBA player takes the time to make sure the same path that helped them get to the NBA is there for the next generation of their hometown peers. But Boston Celtics wing Baylor Scheierman took the time this summer to visit a youth camp in his hometown of Hastings, Nebraska, sharing what he has learned in life as a player and a person both.

Visiting what was billed as a "meet your heroes" camp, Scheierman sat down and talked with local youth about the lessons that have helped propel from Hastings to South Dakota State, Creighton, and the NBA.

"Everything's about relationships, at least it was for me, and I think I've been able to create a lot of that here and everywhere I've been," said the Celtics wing in an interview with local station 1011 News.

"I know that basketball isn't going to last forever, and those relationships that I've had will last a lifetime," added the third-year Boston player.

"I think that's the thing I'm stressing a lot to these guys, too, is how you treat people matters, and people really care about that."
