BARTONVILLE, Ill. (WMBD) -- Limestone enters year two under head coach Cory Bielema. This year there are 60 kids in the program with a solid senior class. Returning captains Cooper Clark and Malik Sanders are accompanied by new captains Jakyiren Herndon, as well as new starting quarterback Tyler Hammond.
This year the Rockets are welcoming a pair of wrestlers to the squad as Limestone hopes to rebound after two winless seasons. Getting their first win since 2023 would be something that would mean a lot to both the players and the local community.

"In past years we haven't been winning games and that's been low-key bringing our community morale down, and I would love to see our stands big, back, and full again the whole game, everybody showing out and showing love for the football team," said Herndon. "For a lot of us it's our last year, and we're gonna give it all we got."
"Ever since our freshman year was the last time we won a bunch of games, like we've been playing with each other for years, most of us have been playing with each other since JFL, so we have that chemistry and I think we'll do good this year," said senior tight end Legend Carroll.
Limestone begins their season at home against Mount Zion.
