The St. Louis Blues are in position to be sellers before the March 6 NHL trade deadline.

There's really just one problem with that as it pertains to the talented center Robert Thomas.

Thomas is currently injured.

The Athletic reports that Thomas recently had a "minor leg procedure" and has an undetermined return timeline.

Given that it's less than two weeks until the deadline, that creates a whole layer of uncertainty for any team pursuing Thomas.

It could lead to the Blues getting worse offers for Thomas than they would've if he was fully healthy, and then they'll have to decide if that's something they still want to do.

Thomas is 26 years old, and he had 81 points in 70 games last season (21 goals, 60 assists).

This season, Thomas has played 42 games and has 33 points, broken down as 11 goals and 22 assists.

On a stronger team, Thomas would likely increase his point production to look more like last season again.

Injuries approaching the deadline don't stop every team from making deals, but it can certainly introduce an element of risk that other teams don't want anything to do with.

Thomas is a player worth acquiring for contenders. They've just got to have at least some sense that they'll actually be able to get Thomas on the ice in time to make an impact.
