Nov. 10—JAMESTOWN — There is one more competition on the Jamestown High School swimming and diving team's schedule and it's the biggest one of them all.
Several members of the JHS swimming and diving team will be competing at the 2025 NDHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet this weekend. The two-day event will be held Nov. 14-15 at West Fargo's Hurlburt Aquatic Center.
Marissa Moltzen, the Jays' team captain, qualified for State in the 50 yard freestyle placing fifth with a time of 26.32 seconds at last weekend's West Region Meet. The senior also qualified in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.80.
As a team, the Blue Jays placed ninth at the WDA meet with 112 team points. Bismarck Century continued its impressive season, winning the team's WDA championship and first since 2023. The Patriots scored 459 points. Century won four events, including all three relays.
Jamestown's 200 yard medley relay team comprised of Sawyer Moser, Adelina Domkova, Moltzen and Sophie Gilbertson placed fifth out of nine competing teams with a time of 2:05.26.
Gilbertson will be representing the Jays in the 100 freestyle this weekend. Gilbertson clocked a time of 59.43 in the event last weekend to place her 13th overall.
Moser, a seventh grader for the Jays, will be competing in the 100 backstroke this weekend. Moser placed 10th in the backstroke at WDA with a time of 1:07.33.
