Feb. 10—JAMESTOWN — Anyone who thought Tuesday night at Jerry Meyer Arena would be a cakewalk, didn't take into account the teams that were playing.

Jamestown High School's scrappy girls basketball team gave undefeated Minot High all the Majettes could handle. While the Blue Jays wound up dropping 62-50, Tuesday was also Minot's lowest scoring conference game of the 2025-26 season. The next action for the Jays will be on the road at Bismarck High on Friday evening. Jamestown will end the week with a game at Williston on Saturday.

"We faced some adversity tonight against the No. 1 team in the state," JHS head coach Andy Skunberg said. "Credit to Minot for their physical, disciplined defense."

After falling behind 9-0 to start the tilt, Mea Ulland got the Jays on the board with a deep range 3-pointer that cut the visitors' lead to six points. The senior proceeded to hit two more 3-point shots that made it 14-13 in favor of the Majettes. Ulland's fourth deep range shot evened up the score at 16 and junior Adisyn Yunck gave her team the first lead of the night with a drive to the hoop that made it 18-16. Yunck followed up her drive with a 3-pointer that made it 21-17.

Macey Neumiller extended the Jays' lead to seven points with another 3-point shot. The bucket forced Minot head coach Jason Schwarz to call a timeout.

Schwarz laid into his team and they responded by going on a 12-5 run to end the first half. The fire continued to burn for the Majettes in the second. The squad outscored Jamestown 33-24 in the final 18 minutes. LeeLee Bell led all game scorers with 28 points. Jamestown's offensive efforts were fueled by Macey Neumiller who ended the night with 16 points. Ulland and Yunck also cracked into double-digits scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.

Jamestown is currently sitting at the No. 5 spot in the conference at 6-7 in WDA play and 8-8 overall. Minot is atop the standings at 14-0 in conference and 18-0 overall.

"I'm proud of how our girls competed and stayed together," Skunberg said. "We have definitely improved from the first time we played them. We'll learn from it and continue to get better."
