Florida State has been heavily involved in the recruitment of 2027 defensive lineman Sam LeJeune. He took several visits in 2024 and 2025 to Tallahassee, and he was also on campus in January for a Junior Day event.
LeJeune was back this week, and this time he got to experience a spring practice for the first time. FSU did a good job in impressing him during his time there.
“I have got to see a team practice if I want to go there — to see them work if I’m going to come here,” LeJeune said via Warchant. “It was great intensity. Great work.”
The Seminoles are working to add more pieces to their 2027 haul in the trenches defensively that currently has four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro. Terrance Knighton, the Seminoles' defensive line coach, is targeting multiple guys at the moment besides LeJeune like four-star prospect Santana Harvey.
LeJeune keep his eyes on Knighton and what he was doing during practice. He gave him kudos for how he handled things.
“It’s high intensity. He’s not joking around,” said LeJeune. “He’s going to get on you, but he also showed the dudes some love too. So it was great.”
LeJeune had a productive junior season at Poplarville High School. He finished with 58 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and five blocked field goals.
After his previous visit, LeJeune named Florida State as one of his top two schools, along with Notre Dame. He'll be back for an official visit in June, and hopefully FSU can create some distance.
Rivals' industry rankings have LeJeune as one of the top overall recruits in the country. He's listed as the No. 84 player, the No. 7 defensive lineman, and the No. 4 prospect coming out of Mississippi.
