Four-star cornerback Joshua Vilmael is making waves in the 2027 recruiting cycle as one of the fastest risers. As his process begins to heat up, Vilmael is set to embark on his spring visit schedule.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder visited TCU over the weekend. He also has trips to Houston, Kansas State, and Kentucky coming up. Florida State is another spring visit that Vilmael has on April 4, and he recently spoke about the history they have of producing big-time defensive backs.

“They’re a DB factory,” Vilmael told Rivals. “They’re good people. I’ve heard from Coach (Antonio) Cromartie, he’s an alum. Coach (Tony) White, the DC, is great. He thinks I can come in and play there. They’re coming in a whole.”

Vilmael is certainly right about FSU's representation for pumping out quality players in the secondary. The most noticeable is NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who many consider the greatest cornerback ever in football. Guys like Terrell Buckley, LeRoy Butler, Jalen Ramsey, and Derwin James also fit into that category.

The Ford Bend Travis High School standout had a stellar junior year. Vilmael racked up two interceptions, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, four blocked kicks, and three tackles for loss. He earned All-District 21-6A First Team honors for his play.

Vilmael is the No. 343 overall recruit and the nation's No. 37 cornerback per the Rivals industry rankings. He's also the No. 50 prospect in the state of Texas.

It will be Vilmael's first time on campus when he comes to Tallahassee in April. Hopefully, Florida State can do enough to put some distance between them and the other top schools he's considering.
