The New Orleans Saints have already spent the offseason reshaping their offense around Tyler Shough. They appear primed to be an ascending team in the 2026 NFL season, but Bleacher Report's Moe Moton believes there could still be room for one more proven piece.
Moton listed New Orleans as a potential landing spot for veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, which would make sense given the connection between Allen and head coach Kellen Moore. The second-year head coach was Allen's offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023, when Allen had a career year.
“In 2023, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore served as the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive coordinator," Moton wrote. "He fielded the 13th-ranked passing offense led by wideout Keenan Allen, who caught a career-high 108 passes for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.”
Allen, 34, is not the same player he was in his prime at this stage of his career. He would be more of a reliable chain-mover and situational target than a full-time No. 1 receiver. That could still be valuable for Shough. The Saints already have Chris Olave as their top wideout, rookie first-round pick Jordyn Tyson as another young weapon, and Travis Etienne Jr. to help balance the offense. Allen would give Moore and the Saints' offense a veteran option who understands spacing and can mentor younger players as he enters the twilight of his career.
The biggest question is whether the Saints' front office feels the need to add another receiver like Allen after already investing heavily in the offense. Tyson's development, along with the potential emergence of rookie fourth-round pick Bryce Lance and Devaughn Vele, will be part of the equation. If they feel the need to bring Allen to New Orleans, he shouldn't command much more than an incentive-laden contract worth a maximum of around $10 million.
