A three-way high school athletic director carousel seems to have come to a stop.

Bishop Fenwick High School, the third southwestern Ohio school looking to fill an athletic director vacancy, has completed its search and made a hire.

Fenwick has named Kevin Alexander, a Franklin resident with nearly 20 years of experience in athletic leadership, coaching, and education, as its next athletic director.

Fenwick President Steve Strathmann said throughout the interview process, it became clear Alexander understands the “important role athletics play in forming students of character, and integrity.”

He replaced Kyle Longworth, who left as Fenwick’s athletic director to serve the same role at Springboro High School. Springboro’s athletic director, Austin Rhoads, left for a similar position at Lakota West High School.

Alexander most recently served as athletic director for Fairborn City Schools, where he led grades 7-12 athletics since 2017.

Fenwick said Alexander has earned a reputation for building strong athletic programs centered on student success, coach development, and community engagement.

He was named the 2025 Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA) Athletic Director of the Year.

Prior to Fairborn, he served in athletic leadership roles at National Trail and New Miami high schools.

Alexander earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Wright State University. He has also served as an adjunct professor of Athletic Administration at Wright State and remains active in state and national athletic administrator’s associations.

Alexander will begin his duties this summer, overseeing all aspects of the school's athletic program as Fenwick prepares to open its new Student Union and state-of-the-art athletic locker rooms.

He said his first priority will be meeting the students, coaches, families and community.

“Together, we’ll identify opportunities to grow and create a positive experience for every student-athlete,” he said.

At Fenwick, athletics are an extension of its “mission to educate the whole person, Strathmann said. "Kevin shares that philosophy, and we are confident he will help our student athletes continue to grow as competitors, and leaders.
