setting aside that Kyler has an agent that is paid handsomely to never allow something like that in a contract.....

it speaks to Mike that his GM, HC and Mark Dalton (PR presumably- maybe the longest term and most trusted advisor) told him not to do it --

AND he did it anyway. More to my "really bad manager/leader" theory of Mike B

Attitude reflects leadership.

The NFL is such a joke for letting a family like the Bidbillies own a franchise and mismanage it for so long.

I really hope they sell or leave town.

Dude is the worst owner ever!

Twitter is so broken; what was this originally in response to? What did the OP reply to from Kyle?

Kyle loathes the Cards org and Michael in particular, but he is, to me, a pretty straight shooter.

Bidwill is the bad guy for wanting his QB to care? Orwell 1984 is here. No fan of Bidwill but painting him as the bad guy in this situation is nuts. His Dad would have told Murray's agent to pound sand. If another GM signs Murray it will be the end of his job. All this Murray interest will dry up. He will be signed at very low cost and cut quickly. Murray ran biggest con in sports history and only a Bidwill would fall for it. Now Murray free to feed his video game addiction like my nephew. Like I said previously it might ultimately cost Bidwill the franchise or force a relocation when Bidwill asks for a new stadium. In STL Bill Bidwill slowly eroded his support. Bill Bidwill wanted a larger stadium in STL. Busch seated nearly 55K and he moved to Arizona without a written agreement to build a new stadium. He waited almost 20 years and meanwhile STL built a stadium when it didnt have a team in 1995. Busch stadium being dual purpose had a lot of unused space for football. With baseball team more popular STL could have built a new baseball stadium much easier and given Busch to single purpose football. They easily could have found 6K more seats if single purpose. Going all those years playing in a college stadium over 6K seats.
Went to many Football Cardinal games at Busch Stadium. Do not think the old Busch would have suited Bidwill if the baseball cardinals had their own stadium. I was overseas in the military when they left. From what I understand they had all the financing in place for a new Football only stadium in Earth City but the city vetoed it. They wanted the stadium in St. Louis.

The only problem is that he wasn't listening to the football people he hired to run the organization. It's common knowledge that Kyler never has put in the necessary study work.
And yet it was the owner that okayed signing him to the big contract
It was the owner who because of his reputation either wouldn’t allow a big ego like Sean Payton to come in or couldn’t attract a top flight GM

The team won eight games last year

They look much worse this year, regardless of quarterback.

Kyler may be a symptom, but the rot is at the top

The main problem was Kyler was hooked on Call of Duty. If he was hooked on Madden, he could've spun it as studying and learning to read a defense.
Hell, Mikey may have thrown in a new gaming system instead of a study clause.

The huge hit to Kyler’s image was the playoff game, where he wanted to quit, had to be begged to go back out and spent most of his time pouting by himself on the bench.

Bidwill sucks, but the questions around Kyler’s leadership and commitment were already obvious.

Hiring KK and drafting Kyler in the first place was Bidwill’s bad ownership.

Then they should have traded or cut him. GM and coaching staff never seemed concerned.

They certainly shouldn’t have given him that extension, especially when they still had 2 years of club control.

But we had a really bad GM and a coach in a way over his head.

My take is pretty simple. Bidwill is a jackass and a horrible owner, but he had good reason to want that clause, because Kyler brought it on himself. Where I criticize Bidwill is for ever giving him the deal in the first place. Hand THAT guy THAT much money, while feeling the need to put that clause there? That makes no sense to me. Should have let him walk if they'd figured out that he needed a contractual push to actually do his job.

This was the big miss here. Any player who wants to quit during a game should make you question his dedication to his profession. Anyone with a lick of common sense should have let the contract run it's course before giving out an extension. I wonder how much push came from Keim and Kingsbury to extend Murray. Hiring Kingsbury was the first mistake and then to allow Kinsbury's bromance for Murray to draft him only compounded it.

Actually I disagree with this. The Cards suck; ownership is bad. The only way to overcome this is with high-variance big swings. Kyler and Kliff were both that.

The Cards will never close Sean Payton or the next Ben Johnson. They have to try and strike gold with an offensive wunderkind and hope they grow into the job quickly.

In Kyler they took the QB with the highest ceiling in the draft class. They tried as best as those dolts could to surround him with a good supporting cast and it kind of worked eventually.

This franchise is never gonna be Green Bay or Pittsburgh. Our owners are inbred oaves. Have to just stack black swan events and hope to hit the lotto. We’re not gonna Mike McCarthy our way out of this.

Please get McCarthy's name outta your mouth. God I wouldn't doubt they hire him and he is the 2020's version of Denny Green.

A few of us were saying to trade him for a haul. We had reached the ceiling and draft a new rookie and keep building the team
