The 2025 NFL draft is here. Every team in the league is going to be looking for players who can help them make deep runs in the future. It is never easy to scout out the best of the best, but everyone is trying their hardest.
One position group that is always highly sought after at the draft are defensive backs. Whether it's a cornerback or a safety, teams love securing playmakers in the defensive backfield. Good talent is going to be scattered throughout the entire weekend. Defensive backs who have a chance to become impactful in the NFL are available.
With that in mind, we're taking a look at the best defensive backs and when they should be available between Days 1, 2 and 3.
Led by Travis Hunter, the phenom who can play both cornerback and wide receiver, these are the players who could be selected as defensive backs in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. There is a lot of high-end skill here, and they could all become impact players in the NFL right away. Most of these guys crack a lineup on opening day.
Every year in the draft, players fall to the second day and everyone wonders how. That is especially possible with defensive backs because of the unknown. Out of every position on defense, these guys might have the hardest time translating to the NFL due to the speed of the game. The ones that do become incredibly valuable, so it's important to have good scouting, so you can bring home one of the best. Championship-caliber defenses can be built with gems found on Day 2.
If championship-caliber defenses can be built by finding good defensive backs on Day 2, imagine if you found a difference maker on Day 3. All of these guys have the speed and tenacity needed to have a chance in the NFL, their overall play just needs some development. Good teams find defensive backs at this stage of the draft and get the most out of them.
All in all, every team in the league would love to find a shutdown corner or a safety that makes life incredibly difficult on the opposition's passing game. They are also the last line of defense on the running game. This draft has a lot of talent at the position, but only time will tell who brings their talents to the NFL at a high level.
