Trailing by eight points late in regulation, Berks Catholic rallied to send the game into overtime and then defeated Muhlenberg 54-46 in a thrilling BCIAA Division 1 boys basketball game on Thursday night.
The victory means the Saints can wrap up the Division 1 title on Saturday by beating Reading High (7-2 Division 1).
The Saints (15-2, 9-1 Division 1) took a 44-42 lead early in overtime on a Kingston McKoy jumper.
Muhlenberg’s Eli Hemmings then made one of two foul shots and on the second shot, the Muhls’ Nelson Malave got the ball and was fouled. He then missed the first and made the second to tie it at 44 with 3:33 left.
The Saints then turned the ball over with 2:44 left.
Hemmings then missed for the Muhls (14-5, 7-3 Division 1), and Gavin Welker scored on an assist from McKoy to make it 46-44 in favor of Berks Catholic.
Muhlenberg turned the ball over with 1:47 to give the ball back to the Saints.
The Muhls got the ball back and McKoy fouled Hemmings with 1:29 left. Hemmings made one of two to make it 46-45.
McKoy was fouled with 1:12 left. He made both to make it 48-45.
The Muhls then missed a 3-pointer and McKoy was fouled at the other end of the court.
He made both to make it 50-45 with 53 seconds left.
The Muhls turned the ball over with 40 seconds left, and McKoy was fouled with 36 seconds left and made one of two but the Saints got the rebound and McKoy was fouled again with 32 seconds left.
He then made both to make it 53-45.
Comeback
Trailing 41-33 in regulation, McKoy made a thunderous dunk to pull the Saints with six points and put a spark in the Saints.
Berks Catholic then got a steal and Carmelo Harper scored and was fouled to pull within four points at 41-37.
He missed the foul shot, but McKoy got the rebound and was fouled with 59 seconds left to make it 41-39 after he made both four shots.
With 50 seconds left, L.J. Armstrong was fouled and made one of two to make it 42-39.
With 30 seconds left, Harper hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 42. Harper’s shot got the Saints even on a 9-1 run.
The Muhls held the ball for the last shot and turned the ball over with two seconds left.
Berks Catholic couldn’t inbounds the ball and turned it over to the Muhls. On the inbounds play, Hemmings got the inbounds pass and missed a 10-foot jumper as time expired.

Exeter 92, York High 62
Aidan Dauble and Dylan Donate each scored 25 points as Exeter defeated York High 92-62 in a non-league game on Thursday night.
The Eagles improve to 12-7 overall.
Donate scored 10 points in the first quarter as Exeter took a 20-17 lead after the first quarter.
Dauble had 14 points in the second quarter as the Eagles stretched the lead to 40-32.
Dauble had 7 points and Donate 5 in the quarter as Exeter broke the game open to lead 63-46 heading into the final period.
