The Cincinnati Bengals are something of an institution when it comes to drafting wideouts and quarterbacks.

Nationally, the Bengals don’t seem to get much credit for being so good at having a steady quarterback room over a number of decades.

Wideout, though, is pretty undeniable.

That’s a fun fact on display in a new All-PFF Team from the last 20 years from Pro Football Focus’ Nathan Jahnke, where the names in a fight for limited roster spots leave out some of the greatest players in modern NFL history.

“The most competitive position was wide receiver,” Nathan Jahnke wrote. “Ja’Marr Chase and A.J. Green were safe selections to make the team, with Tee Higgins narrowly beating Chad Johnson for the third receiver spot. While Johnson is the Bengals’ career leader in receiving yards, over half of his yards and half of his All-Pro and Pro Bowl appearances occurred before the PFF era.”

The final lineup for wideouts:

  • WR: A.J. Green (2011-2020)
  • WR: Tee Higgins (2020-2025)
  • Slot WR: Ja’Marr Chase (2021-2025)

Needing to leave out Chad Johnson, of all players, is pretty wild. And that’s to say nothing about other names like, say, Tyler Boyd and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Overall, the list is a who’s who of the last 20 years of Bengals football, even bringing up some deep cuts like Leon Hall and Reggie Nelson. Oh, and a guy named Vontaze Burfict, too.
