Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase wasn’t there this week making headline splashes alongside Joe Burrow.
It’s a new development from Chase, who typically shows up for work with Burrow and the offense during non-contract-squabble situations.
But is it a big deal? Hardly.
Onlookers like Jaron May of WLWT noted this week the status of the big three at a recent workout:
Not much to see here. It’s a departure from the norm for Chase (and Higgins, really), but not unheard of around the NFL. Wideouts, as specialists, tend to train in their specific area away from teams at times, especially after a few years in the league.
Written another way, there’s no reason for concern. This is the most continuity the Bengals have had on offense in years going into training camp. Barring a shocker and Chase isn’t at mandatory camp, this is a specialist getting in work during voluntary sessions.
