Jun. 22—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji American Legion softball team completed a six-game weekend in the Bemidji Blaze Tournament, finishing in second place.
After pool play concluded on Saturday, the Titans kicked off bracket play with a 7-1 win over Rock Rodge in six innings. They throttled Aitkin 14-5 in four innings before falling 3-2 against Park Rapids in the championship game.
Against Rock Ridge, Jill Pulkrabek went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple with one RBI. Britton Nord went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Izzy Rudnicki went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
Post 14's offense broke out against Aitkin. Pulkrabek went 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs. Izzy Ziegler went 2-for-4 with a double, while Rudnicki recorded a pair of singles and three RBIs.
Bemidji had just four hits against Park Rapids, with two of them being singles from Ziegler. Nord went 1-for-3 with a double.
The Titans (7-4) took a 1-0 lead on a fielder's choice before Park Rapids scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning. Madison Funk's solo home run in the sixth extended the Mayhem's lead to 3-1. Ziegler cut the deficit in half in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI single, but was stranded on base to end the game.
Ann Swedberg went 2-1 in the circle on Sunday. She threw 14 innings and allowed 14 hits. She surrendered three earned runs and three walks with 19 strikeouts.
