In what was a pivotal moment for the Chicago Bears in their win over the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Nahshon Wright stripped quarterback Jalen Hurts as they ran their infamous Tush Push play.
Wright, who's had a career resurgence in his first year with the Bears, has the second-most interceptions (5) in the NFL (trailing only teammate Kevin Byard) and leads the league in individual takeaways by a defender (8).
Over the past several seasons, Hurts and the Eagles have put an emphasis on running the Tush Push, which has led to plenty of success overall for the team. Coming into the game, Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said the team had a plan for the Eagles scheme, and in the biggest moment of the game, Wright delivered with the forced turnover.
"I just saw the ball," Wright said, via CHGO. "Once I saw he was going and holding the ball out, I just was able to get in there, get my hands under and rip it. Then it was just about getting on the ball. The o-lineman wasn't as strong as I thought he was. I don't know exactly who it was, but he wasn't strong enough. As soon as I pulled I saw it drop in between somebody's legs, and I was able to get my hands on it and get under it."
Wright has found a place within this Bears defense and has become a quick fan-faorite for his strong work ethic and productive play. With Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon back on the field for Chicago's defense, Wright has still earned himself a role and becomes another weapon for Allen as Chicago continues to display one of the best secondaries in the NFL.
