Barnsley manager Conor Hourihane said Dominik Szoboszlai was "disrespectful" toward his side on a play where the Liverpool star made a bizarre error leading to a goal.
Szoboszlai gave Liverpool the lead early in an FA Cup match on Monday, Jan. 12, but gifted the League One side a goal with a calamitous decision inside his own box later in the first half.
The Hungary international attempted a backheel pass to his goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, but miscued the risky attempt and gave Barnsley's Adam Phillips a simple tap-in.
The mistake didn't end up too costly for the Premier League champions, who managed to win 4-1 and advance to the fourth round.
Hourihane was fuming after the match, claiming that Szoboszlai's decision showed a lack of respect for his lower-division opponents.
"I'm a little bit disappointed with their player if I'm honest," said Hourihane. "I thought it was a bit disrespectful.
"I don't think he does that against Chelsea, or Arsenal in a Champions League game. Unbelievable little feeling and buzz for Adam obviously, but a little bit of lack of respect from their player to be honest."
Liverpool boss Arne Slot wouldn't be drawn on Hourihane's claim, though he did say he'd speak to the Tykes manager in private.
"I don't think you should do that in a Premier League game, League Cup game, friendly game or a training session," Slot said when asked about Hourihane's comments.
"It's a weird choice and I also have my opinion about it but I prefer to keep that to myself and speak about it with Dom."
Liverpool will face fellow Premier League side Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round after Monday's draw.
