Ukrainian skeleton slider Vladyslav Heraskevych will continue his legal fight against the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after being excluded from the skeleton events at the Milan/Cortina Winter Games.

The IOC said he could not wear a helmet depicting Ukrainian athletes killed during the war with Russia during races because political messages are banned in competition. He was allowed to wear it before and after races - even at the Olympic venue.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport backed the IOC decision.

"I will continue to fight for my rights together with my team of lawyers and I truly believe that we will bring this case to justice," the 27-year-old said in a video posted on social media on Sunday.

He left open which exact legal steps he now intends to take. The skeleton competition in Cortina concluded on Sunday.

Heraskevych added that some good had come from his case, with Russia's invasion of Ukraine about to hit the four-year mark.

"The world remembers our tragedy. We are fighting not only on the battlefield," he said, adding that a charity drive would soon follow.

"We are starting work on developing a project to support the families of fallen athletes depicted on the helmet, with the ultimate goal of creating an opportunity to help the families of all fallen athletes."
