Tennessee (18-10, 3-6 SEC) will host Austin-Peay (14-14, 5-4 ASUN) Tuesday in a nonconference game.

First pitch between the Vols and Governors is slated for 6 p.m. EDT at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The game can be watched on SEC Network+.

Austin Peay has two LSU transfers on its 2026 roster. Outfielder Derrick Mitchell and pitcher Kaleb Appelbey both redshirted in the Tigers' program before transferring to Austin Peay.

Mitchell, a redshirt sophomore, redshirted as a true freshman at LSU in 2024.

In his first season with the Governors in 2025, Mitchell played one game. He started as a designated hitter against Arizona State.

In 2026, Mitchell has appeared in six games, including four starts. He has a .231 batting average, while totaling three hits, four runs and one stolen base.

Appelbey (1-0) has appeared in five games this season. He has pitched 21.1 innings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned), 14 hits and 11 walks. The right-handed pitcher has recorded 22 strikeouts.

In 2025, Appelbey (3-2) appeared in 19 games. He recorded a 3.50 ERA, eight saves and 49 strikeouts in 36 innings.

Appelbey did not play at LSU in 2023 and transferred to Austin Peay in Jan. 2024. He did not play in his first season with the Governors.

Tennessee will host LSU for three-game series beginning Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
