As the NBA Draft Combine continues in Chicago, the offseason spotlight remains fixed on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future, and one of the most intriguing subplots is quietly unfolding in Atlanta.

While reshaping their basketball operations department, the Hawks have a new target drawing league-wide attention. According to RG, Alex Saratsis—Antetokounmpo’s longtime agent with Octagon—is garnering serious consideration for a lead front-office role.

While hiring Saratsis wouldn’t directly impact Antetokounmpo’s contractual status, multiple executives believe it could help establish long-term alignment that may prove significant if the two-time MVP pursues a move.

Adding to the intrigue is an internal connection. Octagon president Phil de Picciotto also represents Hawks head coach Quin Snyder, who substantially influences basketball operations. That level of agency overlap—across the head coach, a potential lead executive, and one of the NBA’s most dominant stars—has not gone unnoticed.

All of this is taking place amid growing uncertainty in Milwaukee. For the first time in his NBA career, Antetokounmpo is described as open-minded about his long-term future. Though no trade request has been made, teams around the league are escalating their due diligence.

Antetokounmpo is coming off another dynamic season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists across 67 games. He remains under contract through 2026, but the Bucks’ ongoing cap challenges and postseason struggles since their 2021 championship have raised legitimate questions about what comes next.

If Antetokounmpo were ever to explore a change, the Hawks—led by All-Star guard Trae Young, an ownership group willing to spend, and a potentially aligned front office—could emerge as a more serious player than previously expected.

Antetokounmpo must reach a final decision on his plans, and then the rest of the trade market will unfold. What he chooses to do will impact many developments around the league.
