Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was named as a finalist for the 2024-25 NBA Most Valuable Player award on April 20.
It will be the fifth time Antetokounmpo, 30, will finish in the top three in MVP voting in his 12-year career. He won the award in 2019 and 2020. He already won the Emirates NBA Cup MVP this season and was part of the in-season all-tournament team.
Denver’s Nikola Jokić, winner of three of the last four MVP awards, is also a finalist along with Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gilgeous-Alexander was the runner-up to Jokić last year.
Antetokounmpo had another historic campaign for the Bucks this season. He joined the 20,000-point club and along the way averaged 30.4 points per game on 60.1% shooting from the field. He is the only player to do that in league history, a feat he accomplished last season as well.
