What are the differences between Andy Dalton and Greg McElroy that would cause us to draft both of them? I like McElroy--he's kind of like Max Hall with NFL talent.

Don't think that Bowers can play OLB in a 3-4 defense, and I don't think that Whis is going to change his defensive philosophy.

DaWreck and Hall are trash and if there's any justice in this world they'll be playing in Canada. Hopefully they're not on the team next year.

The Cards will probably keep 3 QBs on the roster, and if there are no trades why not take a risk?

So not at all :D

I think that Bowers is a good enough player that he starts regardless of scheme or position.

Bowers great pick for AZ.
Cam a horrible pick for Carolina.
IMO

It's mocked like that because after a year of Jimmy Clause the Panthers will most likely be putting a ton of value on leadership, one of the few things that Cam does well.

VIRGIL GREEN WILL NOT LAST UNTIL THE 7TH ROUND!!!!

Lock of the draft, the guy ran around a 4.5 at 240ish pounds. Athletes at TE like that don't last that long.

I like some of your picks, but TWO QBs? Not going to happen we already have a young QB on the roster, Whisenhunt is not going to add two more.

You know how much I love Irving and he's a great value there; I think he goes higher, even with his medical concerns. I mean stack him up against ANY of the other ILB prospects, and minus his health concerns he's better than Martez Wilson, Sheppard, etc. I think he brings a blend of aggressiveness and instincts that are hard to find and if he gets past his medical issues, he'll be one of the best players in this draft.

As for Bowers, he may be to play in a 3-4, but he's a horrible pick if we want him at DE and he's a massive projection to play LB. IMO if it works out this way we draft Peterson HANDS DOWN, and I'm not a fan of drafting a CB. Or we take Robert Quinn who is less of a projection than Bowers and might be better anyway.

Benjamin Ijalana is an interesting pick; he's never really proved that he is a legit LT prospect, but he's got enough toughness and elite physical characteristics that he could be considered for other line positions as well. He's not a finesse LT, but he is still long enough and moves well enough to project to LT.

I kind of like it, but my issue is that I don't think we addressed enough immediate/short term needs in this draft. Two QBs and Bowers are deal killers and are not wise decisions. Neither QB IMO have elite franchise QB potential and Bowers likely plays a position that we already have two pretty good players at so he won't make much of an impact. Or Bowers becomes a big time long term prospect, which isn't smart for this franchise.

Does Dareus really fall that far, why.

Give me Peterson over Bowers.

You hate me right. 2 QB's after rd1!!!! :mulli:

What happened to Martez Wilson, did you forget or do you think he falls to round 3?

Seriously, 2 QB's. Which one gets cut when we get a FA vet?

Dareus for all of his physical abilities was never really a stand out performer at Alabama. He's always been a "potential" pick

Martez Wilson I have going 31st to Pittsburgh. To Replace Farrior who's getting old.

I don't think the Cards bring in a Vet FA. I think the Bidwells will use the CBA as an excuse to not spend the $$. If that's the case, than taking shots in the dark at QBOF isn't the worst strategy in the world. IMO

The Cards have spent a bunch of money since they got the new stadium, last year was a hiccup. Michael knows that he will lose a good bit of the fan base if they put up another season like last year.

As someone else posted, kinda tough to bring along two rookie and a 2nd year QB.

Rodgers was drafted in the 20s so :p, but I see your point. The thing is that this QB class is such a crap shoot. Everybodies billing Newton and Gabbert as the consensus top QBs but in any other draft I don't think they'd even be first rounders.

I think there are a bunch of QBs with similar levels that Scouts are splitting hairs trying to determine who's better and then drastically shooting up one because so many teams place such a high value on QBs.

I think Ponder would mtl be a no brainer in round 2 (many will say Mallet as well) if we can't get Gabbart in rd. 1.

1. What exactly do you have against us, up here? ;) - (and, believe me, neither one can play the Canadian game. DOA can't move; and Hall can't throw)

2. I'd prefer Dareus over Bowers given the choice. He is fast becoming the number one tackle on the board, over Fairly. He'd back up all three line positions, and fit into a number of fronts key to pressuring the QB.

2. With our issues at Linebacker, I doubt very much that we'd miss an opportunity to select one in the first two rounds.

3. The chances that the Cards would not only select one, but two, later round developmental QB's... are slim and none... and slim left town (IMO)

I have to agree about Dareus, CC. I wouldn't at all be upset if we took him. He can play nose or end in the 3-4, as you say, and would be a huge commodity for us ;)

Picking Bowers

over Dareus must mean you think the Cards are going back to a 4-3?

As pointed out by some on here, I'm really warming to that thought.

We are certainly not changing to a 4-3. We just hired a 3-4 guru as a DC, for crying out loud.

No it does not. Dareus, from what I gather, has the talent to back up both D-ends and nose in a 3-4.

To top it all off is that D. Bowers DE has a bum knee. He didnt run at the combine and might not even at his pro day. Hmmm damaged goods to me.
