The Arizona football team will head into the 2026 season with an extra chip on their shoulder.
Arizona is unranked in the Associated Press preseason top 25 poll, though the Wildcats did receive 32 votes, the fourth-most in the receiving votes category.
Brent Brennan’s squad cracked the top 25 at the tail end of last season, reaching the No. 21 position after beating ASU in the Territorial Cup.
Arizona opened the 2024 season ranked No. 21 but quickly fell out of the rankings after a blowout loss to Kansas State.
Four Big 12 teams are ranked, three of whom the Wildcats play this season: No. 11 Texas Tech (Oct. 31 in Lubbock), No. 14 BYU (Sept. 12 in Provo), No. 21 Utah (Nov. 14 in Tucson) and No. 23 Houston.
TCU and Oklahoma State received 11 and 8 votes, respectively.
Arizona was picked to pick in a tie for third with Houston in the Big 12 preseason media poll. Texas Tech was picked to win the conference, followed by BYU.
Arizona opens the season Sept. 5 when it hosts NAU.
