I'm now watching AZ Podcasts comparing why Jacoby and why Carson. And they all talk about how Jacoby did last year. But, what is frustrating is that no one talks about:
* Injuries
* No running game
* Poor offensive line play
It's because a lot of people don't believe those are valid excuses. We understand you do, but you may be in the minority.

this shouldn't be taking this long - brissett should be in camp but instead he's gone underground and the cardinals keep saying it's all good

it might not be all good - the talks may have come to an impasse - the two sides haven't had days to figure this out they've had months

if the negotiations are taking that long (pre draft according to some) then wtf? everybody and their mama agrees jacoby deserves to get paid

idk what the hold up is but now monti and jacoby are in their tractors

they're still really far away from eachother - no immediate danger but the music is getting really intense and the camera work makes the tractors look like their going faster

neither is letting up - everybody's watching - some laughing because monti's never played chicken before and doesn't know how to operate the front-end loader

du-du-du-du
du-du-du-du
du-du-du-du
oh... oh...

idk who wins - but to add to the excitement monti's shoelace is wrapped around the pedals - the pedals being beck and minshew and the 2027 draft too

i see brissett jumping out to save himself at the last second but we still have a few weeks to go because like i said the tractors are really slow (bidwill has promised to buy new ones)

Every day another missed practice for Brissett. Every day another awesome highlight for Carson Beck.

This is why you hire agents and don’t represent yourself.

'Represent yourself' doesn't mean you don't consult lawyers, accountants, etc. and pay for their services up front.

I don't see how Brissett is losing in any of this. He isn't losing money. He is not signed for next year. He is using the leverage he has.

I think he’s risking being cut.
Ok. If that were to happen, he still gets his 1.5 mil that is guaranteed. He is out approx 5 mil in earnings for the year. Mitch Trubisky makes 5.2 mil avg on his contract as a backup. He can easily make up that 5 mil difference, potentially guaranteed for 2026, and with the potential of some money in 2027, similar to his 1.5 mil this year. All to be a backup instead of a starter.

EDIT: I think Brissett has a lot of options as a backup in the NFL. Flacco is making 6 mil per year.

Backup quarterback money seems fair with incentives based on relative production.

Cutting him for not attending voluntary work is a great way to get a labor grievance filed against you.
It's the NFL. It's a business. You can be cut at any time, no reason needed. That's why deals have guaranteed money built into them. He gets cut he gets $1.5 million. What do you get if your job drops you?

That’s not true, obviously. You can’t cut an injured player, for example.

You can't trade an injured player either, I believe.

Sure, there are limitations, but I don't think a backup holding out because he feels he is due a better contract is cause for a lawsuit if he were to be cut.

He signed a deal. If he doesn't like it now, he can ask for more. The team is not obligated to rip up his current deal and give him a better one. He can either play for what both sides agreed to, or he can go elsewhere, or sit unhappily on the bench.

Such a deranged hill to fight on. These guys all work under a collectively bargained labor agreement where there are specific rules.

Well, we'll see what happens when the voluntary OTA's become mandatory minicamp. He's a vet. He'll probably show up without any issues. The head coach is on record saying he is not worried at all, so why are we?

It’s a great question. I’m not worried at all; I don’t understand why some people are big mad about this.

It is funny that Monti can’t even get this done and Michael can’t either. Dolts.

Get what done? JB is just another player under contract. I don't think there is a rule anywhere that says if your backup QB starts a certain number of games or is expected to start more this season, you must pay him more.

I think the holdup is trying to decide how much to give JB. Week one he's your QB1, but they know eventually they're gonna give Beck the chance to show what's he's got. But when does that happen? Week 5? Week 10? Maybe they give him 2 mil per start....I don't know if that is an acceptable offer or not

The upgraded contract that the Cards have already said they want to get done.

You’re really working to act obtuse here.
