exactly, start resigning the guys that we want to keep. Brissett is an expiring asset no matter what happens. You don't waste money on one when there are much better uses for it.
I guess I am just some dumb guy.
If JB is QB1, IMO, we have a chance at a respectable season with maybe 7 or 8 wins and would be much more enjoyable to watch.
OR, cut JB and roll with Minshew with the inevitable switch to Beck. So, Bidwill and Mo are going all in on Beck and if it doesn't work...who cares? We'll just start again next year?? If this is the game plan, I will start watching Pickleball...from Rhode Island!!!

That's the thing, JB isn't a QB1. Do you really think there's that much of a gap between him and Minshew? Look at their stats. They're both journeymen backups. They're going to be switching to Beck shortly into the season with either of those guys.

7 or 8 wins is a pipe dream and would be a disaster for the franchise unless those wins are with Beck and he proves himself. If we get that many wins then they're missing out on the top QBs in the 2027 draft. If that happens with either of the other two then they're back in this same position next year.

This has to be looked at as a multi-year move and not for only this season. They need to stop playing checkers and start playing chess.

DMC, are you saying to start Beck at the get go?

The more I think about it, the more I like it. I know those first 3 games are brutal (Chargers, Seahawks and 49ers), but these aren't winnable games no matter who we have out there. Heck, Kurt Warner, Carson Palmer or any of the other good QB's we have had probably would not win these games either. We have an unproven OL, young unproven defensive players and we have a new HC and offensive system that will have some bugs to work out. Play Beck and let him grow into the position.

Trade Brissett and run with Minshew as the back up. We either have something with Beck or we don't. Play him and see what he has and if he isn't the answer, we will be in a great position to draft someone next year.

im guessing mcbride and wilson want brissett around - wilson's about to get paid and mcbride wants to defend his title - both desires hinge on a quality pocket passer getting them the ball quickly and consistently

i could see them going to bat for jacoby - i could also see them minding their business - hippie disclaimer engaged lol idk

but me thinks jacoby better take whatever pay bump monti is offering and soon - before monti says funk it we'll ride with minshew

i still want to trade brissett and a draft pick for mac jones - if we're going to pay starter money let's try and land a starter

I'm not sure about from the get go or not. It would really depend on how he looks in camp and preseason. Even if he looks good I might wait for week 5 or so. Give the new OL a chance to gel before putting him behind it. Don't need him getting shell shocked in week 1.

Game 4 is against the Giants. Might be a good time for the switch however Denver and Rams follow.

Man, you guys talk like Beck is some 15 year old kid, not a 23 or 24 year old young man that has played in 6 seasons of high level college ball on good winning teams. If he shows up in camp and the preseason, start him. I'm tired of reading about all this stuff (crap) that people on here say the nfl will do to him.

SMH

Throw him to the wolves and see how he does.

How much are you willing to ask Michael Wilson, Love, MHJ, and McBride to sacrifice in order to see whether or not Carson Beck can play?

I understand your future outlook. But, as of right now, we have absolutely no idea what this team might look like until the season starts. And, I appologize if I don't accept tanking for the "possibility" of starting over next year again.
I've played sports all my life and even knowing we may lose, I never quit...and if I was being paid millions to play a sport I loved, I'd be a dick not to give 100%
As of now, it's up to "Butthead" LaFleur...Trust me, if MLF doesn't deliver a competitive product this year. His meme will be Butthead!!

We have no idea what the team will look like but you're predicting 7-8 wins with JB. How is that a good thing for the future? All it will do is keep the team mired in mediocrity. I'm not necessarily saying to tank either. I'd expect the guys on the field to give 100%. I think they're going to be losing without having to tank thanks to the talent level and the schedule.

Put Beck out there after a couple games and see if they lucked out and caught lightening in a bottle. If they did, excellent. They have a QB going forward and have a lot more options for the next draft. If they didn't, then they're in a better position for the future by using the money to lock up players with extensions and keeping a good draft position than they would be by spending the money on JB and getting maybe one or two more meaningless wins.

The point is, you seem to favor a contract situation that favors the billionaire owners over the millionaire labor force. I cannot understand why. In what world can you expect players to honor a contract to full term while simultaneously letting the owners off the hook for the same honor??? Its ridiculous, actually.

You can call me a socialist, but in a battle between billionaires and millionaires, I always stand with the little guy. ;)

True DCR.

@Zalixar typed something the other day that kind of summed it up.

Something along the lines of we’ve been sentenced to life as cardinals fans.

This is really awful and terrible.

Not favored in one game this dear, dead last in everyone’s power rankings, and going into year four of a rebuild with a back up QB holding a gun to our head and demanding more money. Lol. We’re a joke.
Not favored in one game. That's as of now. Does anyone think we'll be favored in any games as the season moves along?

i just wish we knew what jacoby wants - if he had an agent the agent might've leaked something to one of the big accounts

the "far apart" leak we got came from inside the house - fed directly to weinfuss then us - and i don't know if that leak was designed to keep the fans up to date or to let jacoby know his requests are a definite no go

thing is that little leak only came out 2 days ago - and on a friday mind you - giving jacoby a full 3 (memorial) day weekend to digest what the monti is cooking

not just far apart but "significantly" far apart

if brissett didn't go 1-11 last year then holding out wouldn't sound so preposterous but the savagery on social media doesn't take anything into account - they already got beck breathing down his neck

both the cardinals and brissett are being laughed at on cable sport shows and podcasts

if negotiations were at a stalemate im guessing both sides come back to the table this week - thing is i don't see monti budging - he literally has other cards to play

far as leverage goes brissett is bris-screwed - my man can stand 10 toes down meanwhile camp is still going down - meanwhile lafleur is spending time with minshew and the neck breather

meanwhile brissett supposedly has no agent? chalk up another point for monti - negotiations are his job - his forte - not to mention how he got saddlebagged with kyler's contract but i digress

i think brissett caves this week
